Afloat at Pin Mill, Suffolk 

‘Ava’ is a 1977, 26-foot fin keel cruiser, currently afloat in Suffolk. She is in usable, sailable condition and was used this year, and even sailed to Dunkirk two years ago. However, she has reached the point where she requires significant updates and restoration work. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a solid winter project or a classic coastal cruiser.

The Pegasus 800 makes an ideal small cruiser, with a well-finished interior, six berths, and six feet of headroom. The boat has an enclosed forecabin, which also contains the heads under the front berths, and a sink moulded into the starboard side.

While Ava is a working boat, she is being given away because she is reaching the point where many parts need replacing. There are several known problems reported by her current owner: 

Gearbox Controls: The boat will not go into reverse via the cockpit controls. It can be put into reverse manually, but the Teleflex cable will need adjusting or replacing.

Stern Gland: The stern gland is beyond its normal life and will need replacing.

Electrics: The main electrics are currently inoperative. However, the engine start circuit does work.

Rigging & Deck Hardware: The running rigging, pulleys, blocks and jammers are tired and require updating.

Cosmetics: The mainsail cover and jib UV strip are faded. 

Engine History: Ava has an inboard Yanmar 1GM10, reportedly in working condition and running well, which is serviced by the current owner. The fuel filter was replaced last winter, and the exhaust elbow was replaced 3 years ago.
